Laminate Over Carpet Reddit

Why does reddit hate laminate vinyl flooring.
Laminate over carpet reddit. Ended up not really working for me since the carpet gave the laminate too much give. As for putting rugs over laminate it is known to discolor as the result of the backing on rugs or the pad under rug. I ve been obsessing over all the laminate flooring installation videos and figured that i was ready. Removed all carpet and replaced with laminate 1400 sq.
So what i did was purposely install the floor with gaps. After about 4 months the laminate was cracking a little and get stretched out in spots. I feel like i am missing something because everyone i talk to in person who has gotten laminate or vpf in the last 5 years absolutely loves them. I tried laminate on carpet.
My father in law lent me his mitre saw and i found that provided much better cuts than the actual tool albeit much more sawdust. Everywhere i read trying to get a general feel for putting in laminate floors it seems like reddit is extremely biased against laminate floors. I borrowed a laminate cutting tool from a friend of mine and found that it marred up the edges a bit. Only the long side of the planks.
I don t live in a humid environment. Laminate also tends to sound clicky. So we decided to do it ourselves. A kid spilling a drink dog bowl cat pee whatever.
I reccomend using the plywood like in the comment above.
