Note that it usually takes little time to lay out and tape separate underlayment. Underlayment also softens the feel of the laminate floor when you are walking on it but it is not like carpet padding. Underlayment will not even out major holes or deep ridges in the sub floor. Eliminating one step from the process of installing laminate flooring may reduce overall time spent on the project.
